                                          E = over 10 miles                                           5 = very strenuous

Wayah Bald (5,342 ft.) to Wayah Gap (4,180 ft.) on the AT.  This is 4.2 mostly downhill. Spectacular view from observation tower atop Wayah Bald.  Shuttle required.

Unicoi Gap to High Shoals Falls via the AT, FS 283 (2.2 miles), and High Shoals Trail. Come walk the 177 steps built by Konnarock in the past two years. This is a 7.6 mile hike to see two beautiful waterfalls. We will leave cars at High Shoals for return.

Unicoi Turnpike Trail and BMT. Come walk some actual pieces of the famous Cherokee Trail of Tears of 200 years ago, 7 miles total. The trip includes CCC camp site and side trip to Buck Bald’s vista. Shuttle.

Hogpen Gap to Chattahoochee Gap on the AT. Then down to Jacks Gap on the Jacks Knob Trail. 11.6 miles shuttle hike with a number of ups and downs. Paced hike at 2+ mph.

Black Rock Mountain State Park near Clayton. Hike the James E. Edmonds Loop Trail for 7.2 moderate to strenuous miles. Then the Tennessee Rock Trail for 2.2 moderate miles. 9.4 miles total. State park pass or current parking fee.

Big Frog Wilderness Loop Hike. We will begin this hike at the Big Frog Trail parking area, located 3 miles up FS 45 from Thunder Rock Campground, and 1/2 mile west on FS 221. We will hike up the Big Frog Trail, come down Fork Ridge Trail, then return to the Big Frog Trail by way of the Rough Creek Trail. The total hike distance will be 8.4 miles and includes moderate to strenuous segments. There is on stream crossing of Rough Creek West Fork that is usually a rock hop, unless preceded by heavy rains.

The Miller Trek at Brasstown Valley Resort.  This 6.5 mile loop is moderately difficult with an elevation change of 1,400 feet and some rough, rocky footing. Counter-clockwise is easier, more scenic. Optional meal out at Brasstown Valley Resort

Dicks Creek Gap north to Plum Orchard Gap Shelter, in and out on the AT. 9 miles.  Moderate with some steep climbs.  Trail passes Dick’s Creek Gap 2675 ft, Cowart Gap 2920 ft, Buzzard Knob 3760 ft, and Plum Orchard Gap 3090 ft.
