Welcome to Hountain High Hikers
The Mountain High Hikers is a hiking
club that has been around since 1993 in the North Georgia Mountains that
promotes hiking, Trail Maintenance and conservation issues in the Southern
Most members live in Towns, Union, and Fannin counties in Georgia, and Clay and Cherokee counties in North Carolina. Most are full time residents, but some only come up for a few weeks a year
to hike with us. Mountain High Hikers sponsors several hikes every week to
accommodate a variance in hiking skills. Prospective members and guests are
invited and encouraged to hike with us before deciding to join. If you are
unsure of your hiking ability, I would suggest you first try out a
Thursday "Leisure" hike, these are shorter and at a slower pace than our Tuesday
Hikes. You can see our hike schedule on this web site under Hike Calendar
tab. You will find most of our members very friendly and outgoing and love
the outdoors and a healthy lifestyle.
The club has quarterly combined
business meetings and potluck dinners. Special trips are also periodically planned. We are one of the largest hiking clubs attending Wilderness Wildlife Week in the Great Smoky Mountains each
year, usually with over 40 members in attendance. The club has also organized hiking trips to Virginia, Mt. Mitchell, Yosemite, and the Swiss Alps.
If you have any
questions about the club or the hikes, please
We are looking forward to meeting you and hiking with you.
