High Shoals Falls A 2.5 mile round trip hike to view two beautiful waterfalls.  This hike is rated moderate due to some climbing and descending.  Rough road approach.

Wesser Creek Trail up to the AT then Loop to NOC. 9.3 mile shuttle hike. Hike up the easier old AT route to Wesser Bald Shelter with  optional .8 mile side trip to the Wesser Fire Tower with great views, and return via current AT (2900 ft. elevation descent).  Short seven minute shuttle.

Dukes Creek Falls and Smithgall Woods. Hike 2.2 miles round trip to the 250 ft. cascade. Have lunch at Smithgall Woods and then hike the 1.5 mile Laurel Ridge Interpretive Trail.

Lake Winfield Scott- Slaughter Gap-Jarrard Gap loop with lunch at Woods Hole Shelter.  Climb Blood Mountain. A moderate 9 mile hike.

Raven Cliffs Trail.  A scenic 5 mile round trip hike along a cascading mountain stream to towering cliffs with two waterfalls.  Some difficult footing due to erosion.

Bartram Trail from Russell  Bridge to Licklog Falls8 mile in and out hike, easy elevation gain. Hike from Russell bridge on Hwy 28 east of Clayton along SC side of the Chattooga River to Licklog Falls and return.

Emery Creek Falls.  5 miles in and out.  A delightful walk in the Cohuttas which ends in a pair of waterfalls:  The first is 40-50 ft high, the second is about 25 ft high.  The walk is along Emery Creek and involves about 12 stream crossings, so bring poles – should be nice and cool down by the creek.

Hanging Dog Recreation Area near Murphy, NC.  A moderate hike of 8 to 9 miles with views of Lake Hiwassee. A few short, steep hills but mostly elevation changes of 200 to 300 feet.

Two scenic waterfalls - has been changed to the Jack Rabbit trail. We will do about 5 miles plus or minus around the lake. Great views of Lake Chatuge and variety of hard woods.

Benton MacKaye, Hemp Top, Jacks River trails.  We will start hiking from Watson Gap, enter the Cohutta Wilderness on the BMT, then use the Hemp Top and Jack’s River trails to complete a circle and return over a 2.6 repeat of the BMT to Watson Gap again.  About 8.3 miles

Mooney Gap to Timber Ridge Trail in Standing Indian area.  5 miles on the AT plus 2.5 on the Timber Ridge for a total of 7.5 miles.  Shuttle required. This area usually stays cooler in the summer.

 Standing Indian area  - From the Backcountry Information sign, up the Long Branch Trail (2

miles) to the A.T., right on the A.T. and 3.4 miles to summit of Albert Mt. and return for a total 10.8 miles.

Deep Gap (4,341 ft) to the top of Standing Indian Mountain (5,498 ft.) on the AT.  This is a 5 mile round trip hike in the Southern Nantahala Wilderness Area. Usually cooler in summer.

Dally Gap to Jack’s River. 5-6 mi. hike up Hemp Top Trail to intersection with the BMT at Spanish Oak Gap to Jacks River Trail to the river. Bring poles, river shoes if you want to cross the river.

Sneaking Creek at Jackrabbit: the newest trail (tan blaze). 3.2 mi. in length. Hike leader can easily add 3.1 mi. with the easy white blaze trail

Jacks River - Cohutta Wilderness Hike :  This is a 9.2 mile hike with < 400 foot elevation change, going from Dally gap in the Cohutta's 4.6 miles down Jacks River Trail (one of the prettiest areas in the Cohutta's) to a beautiful lunch spot with a swimming hole, then back out.  There will be 3 river crossing each way which are knee deep, so bring water shoes and poles.  This will be a great escape from the summer heat.  Plan on getting wet, so bring a change of clothes!!

Green Mountain Trail in Fannin County.  10 mile in and out hike with moderate elevation gain. Includes the Green Mountain Trail for 7 miles and the connector to Long Branch Loop for an additional 3 miles. Paced hike at 2+ mph.

Cohuttas/Conasauga River hike.  We will hike down the Chestnut Lead Trail (1.8 miles) to the Conasauga River and follow the trail downstream 2.2 miles for a riverside lunch and return.  Many tricky rocks and 38 water crossings - bring poles and wear hiking boots.  Total 10.2 miles.

Benton Falls, Red Leaf, Arbutus, Azalea, Clear Creek Trails in the Chilhowee Recreation Area in east Tennessee. 4.8 mile easy trail .  Fee area or bring pass.  There is a modest and very scenic 22-mile drive to the trailhead from the meeting place

Gahuti Trail at Ft. Mountain State Park10 mile loop trail.  8.2 mile loop hike on the Gahuti Trail with a few long, steep descents and a few short, very steep climbs. Great views. Hike the Old Fort trails and lunch at the ancient “Stone Wall” of prehistoric origin for an additional 1.8 miles. GA state park pass or Fee required. Paced hike at 2+ mph.
