Yellow Mountain Trail in the Coosa Wildlife Management Area.  4.7 miles and 800 foot elevation change. The Yellow Mountain Trail to the top, then the Shope Gap Trail to the Duncan Ridge Road, follow the road to the Mill Shoal Creek Trail which will take us back to the Campground.

Fires Creek.  From recreation area pass by Leatherwood Falls, then take Rim Access Trail for another 2 miles of steady ascent. Return down access trail and complete Leatherwood Falls loop for 5 miles. Steep uphill section.

Betty’s Creek Gap to Beech Gap in the Standing Indian Area. 10.2 miles total. At Betty’s Creek Gap, go southbound on the AT for 7.8 miles to Beech Gap, then down 2.4 miles on the Beech Gap Trail. Deep Gap (4,341 ft.) to the top of Standing Indian Mountain (5,498 ft.) on the AT. This is a 5 mile round trip hike in the Southern Nantahala Wilderness Area. Year round spectacular views.

Benton MacKaye, Hemp Top, Jacks River trails.  We will start hiking from Watson Gap, enter the Cohutta Wilderness on the BMT, then use the Hemp Top and Jack’s River trails to complete a circle and return over a 2.6 repeat of the BMT to Watson Gap again.  About 8.3 miles.

Big Big Frog Wilderness Loop.  7.2 miles.  Hike starts at Thundercreek Campground on the Benton McKaye Trail to West Fork Trail to 1330 bypass to Bear Paw Trail to Rhododendron Trail.  Lunch at the Whitewater Center and then walk the beautiful boardwalk along the river back to cars. (Or whatever the leader of this hike decides is best!)

Summer Easy Pleasure (Mostly Downhill) - Tanasi Bike Trails - This will be a fairly easy, shady, and rather pleasant hike for a very hot summer month. We'll start high after a short shuttle, beginning on the high spot on Forest Service Road 221 in Tenn. Then we'll hike somewhere between 5-7+ miles mostly downhill on the Tanasi Bike Trail system down to the Ocoee Whitewater Center.

Trails of Tallulah Gorge State Park.  This includes a visit to the Jane Hurt Yarn Interpretative Center.  Excellent exhibits and a 20 min. historical movie on the Gorge.  Then we will hike the North Rim Trail with its views of several waterfalls; go down Hurricane Falls staircase to the swinging bridge and hike the High Bluff Loop.  Moderate hike with easy footing and no climbs, except the steps.  Possibility of doing some of the Stoneplace Trail. 6 to 8 miles depending on what the leader or group decides.

Appletree Trail and Bartram Loop Trail. This is an 8.4 mile hike.  Starting at the campground, 5.9 miles on the Bartram Trail, then 1.4 miles on Laurel Creek Trail, then return to the campground on Appletree Trail for 1.4 miles.  Moderate climbing, ridge walking and about 2.5 miles along Nantahala River.

Leisure Hike  -  Helen to Unicoi Trail.  This trek of about six miles will begin at Helen, follow the fairly easy 3-mile trail to the lodge at Unicoi State Park, then return early afternoon.
