Hike Ratings:   Distance:     A = up to 3 miles                 Terrain/Footing:  1 = easy
                                          B = 3-6 miles                                                  2 = average

                                          C = 6-8 miles                                                  3 = moderate
                                          D = 8-10 miles                                                4 = strenuous

                                          E = over 10 miles                                           5 = very strenuous

Jack Rabbit hike/bike trail.  7.6 miles.  Hike four loops of the Jack Rabbit Hike/ bike trail--3.1 miles on the white blazed loop, 2 miles on the blue blazed loop, 1 mile on the orange blazed trail, 1.5 miles on yellow blazed loop.  Great views of Lake Chatuge

Hanging Dog Recreation Area near Murphy, NC.  A moderate hike of 7 to 8 miles with views of Lake Hiwassee. A few short, steep hills but mostly elevation changes of 200 to 300 feet.

.  At Calf Stomp Gap we will take FS road 108 down to Barnett Gap.  900 foot elevation climb at start of hike.  5.1 mi. Short shuttle.

River View Loop trail at Ocoee Whitewater Center. Good 6+ mile hike, starting at Whitewater Center, climbs the Bearpaw and Chestnut Mtn Trail to the River View loop. Makes a good easier moderate hike.

Unicoi Turnpike Trail and Benton MacKaye Trail. Come walk some actual pieces of the famous Cherokee Trail of Tears of 200 years ago, then the other half is on the Benton MacKaye Trail.  7 miles total.    The trip includes CCC camp site and grave marker. Shuttle.

Panthers Creek Falls in the Cohuttas. The hike will start at the Three Forks area, proceed 2.3 miles on East Cowpen Tr., then turn onto Panther Cr Tr down to falls (another 2.3 miles) then back out the same way for 9.2 total miles.

Indian Grave Gap to Tray Mountain and back5 mile moderate hike on the AT to Tray Mt., the second highest point in GA.  The trail passes Indian Grave Gap (3113 ft), a fabulous hillside of galax, the “cheese factory” turnoff, a viewpoint just before Tray Mt. (4430 ft).
