                                          E = over 10 miles                                           5 = very strenuous

Coosa Backcountry Trail from Wolfpen Gap to Barnett Gap.   At Calf Stomp Gap we will take FS road 108 down to Barnett Gap.  900 foot elevation climb at start of hike.  5.1 mi .  Short shuttle.

Unicoi Gap to Tray Mountain on the AT with return on the Rocky Mountain Trail.  A 10.4 mile strenuous hike, 2400 ft. elevation gain.  Great view from Tray Mountain. Paced hike at 2+mph.

Big Lost Creek Trail Located in TN. on the BMT.  Less than six miles in and out. This easy,mostly level hike follows Big Lost Creek. Beautiful gorge, high rock walls on each side. Cascading rapids,  Giant icicles in winter make this a gorgeous winter hike.

Brush Creek Trail near the Ocoee Whitewater Center.  6.5 mile easy to moderate from Boyd Gap overlook with good views of the lake.  Short shuttle required.

Panthers Creek Falls in the Cohuttas. The hike will start at the Three Forks area, proceed 2.3 miles on East Cowpen Tr., then turn onto Panther Cr Tr down to falls (another 2.3 miles) then back out the same way for 9.2 total miles.

Indian Grave Gap to Tray Mountain and back.  5.0 mile moderate hike on the AT to Tray Mt., The trail passes Indian Grave Gap (3113 ft), a fabulous hillside of galax, the “cheese factory” turnoff, a viewpoint just before Tray Mt. (4430 ft).

Stanley Gap Trail from Deep Gap parking area on Aska Road to the intersection with the Benton MacKaye Trail and return. 4.5 miles round trip. Moderate climb to BMT and downhill on the return.

Killum Valley to Cowrock. The first mile is very gradual with many beautiful waterfalls. The second mile is very steep. In Tim Homan's book he says the last 0.3 to Testnatee Gap is "one of the most rugged sections of trail in Georgia " From Testnatee to Cowrock on the AT is about another mile. One way the hike is a little under 3 miles with 2,200 elevation gain.

Jacks River Tr from Dally Gap  to the first river crossing and back. If the river crossing is really easy we could go further but for now its a 4.6 mile easy walk. If the group is hardy and willing and the weather permits we can add a 2mile loop at the end near the parking area.

Arkaquah Trail from Trackrock Gap to Brasstown Bald parking lot, then down to Jacks Gap for a total of 7.8 miles of strenuous hiking. Trail ascends 2100 ft. and descends 1400. Spectacular views

Woody Gap to Neels Gap.  Shuttle/key exchange.  9.9 miles.  Moderately strenuous with climb up Blood Mt. (highest point on the GA AT) but with good switchbacks. Elevations from 3150 to 4461 to 3125.  Trail passes Woody Gap (3150), Dockery Lake trail, Jarrard Gap(3250), Bird Gap (3650),  Freeman Trail,  Slaughter Creek Trail, Blood Mountain (4461) high point, Flatrock Gap (3452), Neels Gap (3125).

Lake Winfield Scott-Jarrard Gap- Slaughter Gap loop. This is a pleasant 6 mile hike with moderate ascents and descents. ($5.00 or Golden Age Pass at Lake Winfield Scott).

Sandy Gap to Unicoi Gap on the Benton MacKaye Trail.  It is an 8.3 mile section, with a beautiful ridgeline walk along the NC/TN state line, with added attractions of seeing an old engraved stone marker on the ridge marking the state line, and “old” Doc Watson’s TB sanatorium, in ruins, with rock walls over 3 stories high still standing, and ending at the historic Unicoi Gap in TN.  Shuttle

Come welcome the hoard of potential thru hikers as they start their big adventure.  Bring a bag of goodies to give to hikers to let them know they are welcome in Georgia.  This will be our version of „trail magic“.  We will set up at Addis Gap and hike south on the AT as far as we want.
